This project builds up to five new groundwater supply wells. The new wells will provide drinking water. We anticipate locating the new wells in Red Deer County, near the Summer Village of Jarvis Bay.

Why

  • Sylvan Lake is growing

  • We need more water within 5 years to meet demand

  • The new wells will supply the north reservoir

How

  1. Survey any residents (within 1.6 Km of the new well locations) about existing groundwater supply wells.

Because the new well locations are near Jarvis Bay and Red Deer County residents, we are making sure there are no negative impacts

  2. Gather information to choose new well locations

  3. Well drilling and testing

  1. Apply for a Provincial Water Act License

  1. Construction: Design and build the new wells. Connect them to the Town’s north reservoir

Who

  • We found that the Jarvis Bay and Red Deer County has privately owned and operated wells

  • We asked nearby residents to help us identify existing wells through a survey

  • The survey results help us understand the local groundwater system

Contractor

We hired ISL Engineering and Land Services (ISL) to:

  • Help us identify new well locations

  • Assist and supervise well drilling, installation, and connection to the Town water system
