2023/2024 Survey Results

On the Town’s behalf, the Summer Villages of Sylvan Lake administration sent survey forms to property owners within the Summer Villages of Jarvis Bay (210 surveys in 2023) and Birchcliff (192 surveys in 2024). A small number of surveys were also hand delivered to Kayton Estates and elsewhere in Red Deer and Lacombe Counties.

Results

125 people responded
120 people indicated they had a water well on their property
112 people told us their well was for household use
75% with a well provided shared some well information with us
70% of the wells are used constantly or regularly during the day, 18% are used a few days a week or a few days a month. One well was not in use anymore. The rest did not provide information.
Some residents reported only using their well seasonally, usually in summer
We had three reports of the water having a slight odor, one report of high iron content and one report of high incidences of fluoride
There were multiple reports of the water being good quality and soft
