Construction Notice – Testing New Water Main

The installation of the second water supply main is now complete. Before the line is ready to flow clean water to residents, crews will prepare the new line. This happens in 5 stages:

  • Stage 1: Fill the new line slowly

  • Stage 2: Flush the line to clear any debris, this may take multiple flushes

  • Stage 3: Fill the reservoir and line slowly, then pressure test the line

  • Stage 4: Disinfect the new line using chlorine and flush the line of chlorinated water (This water is isolated from the main system)

  • Stage 5: Final water testing and activation of the line

Once all stages are complete, the line is operational. If the final water testing fails, we may have to start over at a previous stage. This could extend work until the line is operational.

How long will this take?

What do Lakers need to know?

Some residents may notice temporary changes to their water. These changes are expected as construction activity affects water flow within the system and may include:

  • Increased water turbidity (cloudiness)

  • Air entrapment, which can cause bubbles in the water

  • Temporary water discolouration

  • Lower than usual water pressure

The water remains safe to use, and our water system is monitored 24/7 to help ensure water quality and safety. If you notice these temporary changes, they should clear as the system stabilizes. Thank you for your patience and understanding while this work is underway.
