It's time to update our 2016 Community Social Master Plan and take the pulse of our community today.

Why?

  • To help us meet the needs and wants of the community for events and programming opportunities
  • We'll produce short, medium, and long-term strategies to guide Sylvan Lake for another 5 years
  • The plan will also help us to apply for provincial and federal grants.

When?

  • Environmental Scan (March 15 - April 30): Comparing similar communities and their social master plans to find any areas that need attention
  • Service Provider Survey (April 1 - 18, 2025): Survey for local community service providers
  • Focus Groups (May 8 - 31): Thank you to everyone that participated. Lakers helped create a strategy to improve community well-being and address social issues. We'll share the results in the updated Community Social Master Plan
    • May 8, 2025 (9:00 AM - Noon): Housing, Income, & Employment
    • May 14, 2025 (9:00 AM - Noon): Safety and Engagement
    • May 15, 2025 (1:00 PM - 4:00 PM): Health and Wellness
    • May 26, 2025 (1:00 PM - 4:00 PM): Transportation
    • Location for all groups: NexSouce Centre, 4823 49 Avenue, Strategis multi-purpose rooms 1 and 2
  • Couldn't make the in-person focus groups? Take one or all of the surveys before June 30, 11:59 PM
  • Engaging with youth and older adults (June 3): Walk the Talk event. Thank you to everyone that participated. Lakers talked about issues and shared ideas for improvement. June 3, 2025, from 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM in Centennial Park. We'll share the results in the updated Community Social Master Plan
